Was a Definite Success !!!

June 7, 2008, has come and gone and again we had a wonderful response from the Kearney community with amazing support for  the Third Annual C.L.A.S.S. Act  fundraiser.  The steering committee did an unbelievable job in bringing our event together for a very fun and prosperous evening ! The auction items that the gift acquirement committee acquired were above and beyond anyone's expectations.  There was a 1962 Corvair automobile, a Caribbean vacation, a trip to Disney World, Harley Davidson and many more unbelievable items.   Trent Steele, Assistant Principal at Kearney High School,  was our Emcee Extrordinaire and Dr. Brian Maher, Superintendent of Kearney Public Schools gave a very moving speech that ended with a standing ovation.  The auctioneer, Travis Ahrendt, was entertaining and very effective due to the preliminary totals for the auction.  Processing is still in the works but an estimated $150,000 seems to be the magic number ! The Kearney Public Schools Foundation, along with local volunteers, organize this grand fundraiser to benefit special programs and projects within the Kearney Public School system. Our funds will be disbursed throughout the district to assist in academics, athletics, technology, drug and alcohol education, the arts, and safety and security.  To all who attended, donated monies, purchased items and volunteered their time, the Kearney Public Schools Foundation Board of Director's and C.L.A.S.S. Act Steering Committee, thank you deeply for your generosity and hope to see you again next year for C.L.A.S.S.  Act IV !
