Kearney Public Schools Foundation encourages excellence in education by providing resources to and recognition of the students and staff of Kearney Public Schools.

Established in 1984; 501(C)(3) not-for-profit organization managed by volunteer board of directors

All KPS Foundation activities are funded by gifts, bequests and donations--no district funds are used

In an average year, $250,000-$300,000 will "pass through" in the form of short-term grants, fund-raising dollars and program funds currently managing over 70 separate funds including scholarship funds, memorial funds, designated funds and grant funds goals include building an endowment and strengthening the Foundation's strategic plan

Examples of past support include: development of KHS Alumni Association; provided $25,000 to help equip a computer lab at KHS; provided $25,000 to help equip an Industrial Technology lab at HMS; provided $35,000 to help equip a Principles of Technology lab at KHS; obtained $32,500 from a local benefactor to equip the Presentation Classroom at SMS; managed KHS Track Fund, for which over $150,000 was raised by local volunteers; raised $25,000 from alumni and local businesses to provide electronic message sign at KHS; acted as fiscal agent for Buffalo County School To Career Initiative and Team Mates of Kearney; currently fiscal agent for the Kearney Performing Arts Center's $4.7 million fund drive

Special events/projects include Evening of Excellence Recognition Banquet; annual KPS Foundation Golf Tournament; KPS Activities Calendar; KHS Cat Card; Christmas Appeal letter to alumni; Alumni Directory; All Class Reunions; KPS Foundation Classroom Grants

Gifts and Bequests
Gifts and bequests to the Kearney Public Schools Foundation help support classroom grants, special projects and scholarships. Contributions are deductible to the fullest extent allowed under present tax laws.
